Our Advanced Practice Nurses
Mary Jane Maloney, Vice President of Clinical Operations for NESAO, is an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner who graduated from Case Western Reserve University ten years ago. Her clinical nursing experience is varied as she spent a full career in the United States Navy working with sailors, marines and their families nationally and overseas, transitioning to community health with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health as a health promotions coordinator and finally directing the clinical operations of Metro Health's Emergency Department while pursuing her MSN. Mary Jane has been a Wound Care Nurse Practitioner since 2001 and is board certified as a wound care specialist by the American Academy of Wound care Specialists. Carrying a full clinical load, Mary Jane is responsible for the training of all advanced practice nurses on the service
Mary Jane attained her BSN from the University of Maryland, and an MS in Health Care Services from Salve Regina College, Newport, Rhode Island. She is President -Elect of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association and an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Organization, Dermatology Nurses Association and American Association of Wound Care Specialists.
Finally, Mary Jane is married, has two daughters and enjoys reading, genealogy, basket-making, needlework and energy medicine.
Mary Elchlinger is a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, Certified Wound Specialist and a Certified Emergency Nurse who has been with NESAO for the last 6 ½ yrs. She graduated from The University of Akron where she received her BSN and MSN. Mary has experience in management and the care of acute and chronic wounds. Her experience as a mother of 4 children and a NP in the Emergency Department at Cleveland Metro Health Medical Center has made her an expert in handling urgent and emergent situations. Presently she is one of the Team Leaders at NESAO. She is an active member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association, Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Organization, Dermatology Nurses Association and Dermatology Association. Her territories include parts of Summit, Cuyahoga, Medina, Lorain and Huron counties.
Amy Green is certified Gerontological Nurse Practitioner who has been with NESAO for 5 years. She received her Masters of nursing and BS in nursing from Case Western Reserve University. She also holds a bachelor of business administration in accounting. Amy has experience in wound care, primary care, neuro surgery, general surgery and gero-psych. She resides in Cleveland and covers parts of Lorain and Cuyahoga.
Michelle Giovannelli is a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and a certified Wound Specialist. She received her master degree of nursing from Ohio State University Suma Cum Laude. She has experience in wound care, primary care and ER. Over the past 4 years Michelle has donated her time providing primary care to third world countries through the Hudson Community Chapel Medical Mission, the Christian Missions International and Fairhaven Church Ecuador Medical Mission. Michelle has been with NESAO since 2003. She currently covers central Ohio.
Michele Mastriano is a graduate of the University of Toledo with degrees in both nursing and education. She completed her Master's in nursing at Malone College in Canton, Ohio in 2007 and is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has experience in ICU, ER, Long-term acute care and the operating room. Michele lives in Broadview Heights and joined NESAO in November 2007. She covers Northeast and Southeast Cuyahoga County.
Deb Scott graduated from Case Western Reserve University as a Family Nurse Practitioner and practiced family medicine in private practice for 7 years. She became involve in clinical research for Ohio State University for 1year to study the increased incidence of HPV cervical cancer in Appalachian women. She is an active member with the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association. Deb has been with NESAO for 2 years. She lives and works in rural Ohio covering several of the counties surrounding her home county of Harrison.
Lisa White graduated from Ball State University as a Family Nurse practitioner. She is an active member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association and Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Organization. She has experience in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Long term care and Hospice. Lisa has always enjoyed the challenge of wound care and healing. Lisa lives in Dayton and she covers Dayton, and the surrounding areas. Lisa has worked for NESAO for over one year.
Laura Thurlow graduated from Kent State University as an adult nurse practitioner in 2007. She joined NESAO in November of 2007 and her nursing background includes several years in the cardiothoracic ICU. She is an active member of Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She resides in Jefferson, OH with her husband and stepson. Her territory includes Lake, Geauga, Eastern Cuyahoga, and Mahoning counties.
Jennifer Kame graduated from Kent State University with her bachelors of science in nursing cum laude and obtained her masters of science in nursing from Ursuline College. She has been an adult nurse practitioner for over 4 years and has experience in pulmonary and critical care. Jennifer lives in Sagamore Hills and covers east Cuyahoga, Summit, and Portage counties.
Karen Bauer graduated from Ohio State University as a family Nurse practitioner. She is an active member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association, The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Association. Karen has experience in pain management, communicable disease and residents with cognitive impairment. Her passion for excellence in wound healing is remarkable as she joined our family of wound care experts in 2007. Karen lives in Toledo and thus allows us to expand our territory in the Northwest Ohio
Region.
Mary Jane Thompson is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her master of nursing from the University of Colorado in 1981. She has experience in maternity care and family planning, cardiac care, surgical care and primary health care. She joined NESAO in 2007 and is covering Northeast Ohio.
Rose Coughlin is a clinical nurse specialist in adult health. She completed her Masters of Science in Nursing from Kent State University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Penn State University.
Rose has experience in medical/surgical nursing, MICU, telemetry, medical cardiology/heart failure, long-term acute care, and cardiothoracic step-down. Her passion about wound care developed as a result of caring for post-op cardiac surgery patients.
Rose is a member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association, Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Organization, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses. She resides with her family in Youngstown, Ohio and is providing wound care in Mahoning and Trumbull counties
Marcia Philpotts is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health who completed both her Masters and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ursuline College. Marcia’s vast clinical experiences include long term care and Palliative Care services with The Hospice of The Western Reserve. Marcia is a member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association and the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Organization. She resides with her family in Cleveland and provides wound care services in Cleveland and eastern Cuyahoga County.
Ann Schommer is a family nurse practitioner who completed her Masters of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association, Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Organization and Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society. Ann’s clinical experience includes Home Care, maternal/childcare, Critical Care, Telemetry, Operating Room, Med /Surg, Long term care, and Telephone Triage.
Ann resides with her family in Dayton and is interested in gardening, exploring genealogy, and fishing. Ann provides wound care services in Southern Montgomery County, Green and Champaign counties.
Carolyn Thompson is an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN). She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Otterbein College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Malone College and WOC/ET certificate from Harrisburg WOC Nursing Education Program
Carolyn’s experience includes Acute Care Surgical nursing, Homecare, Hospice, and an ET Coordinator, clinician, and staff educator for skin, wound, and ostomy care at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Upon becoming a certified nurse practitioner, she worked as a Dermatology Nurse Practitioner in Columbus, Ohio.
Carolyn is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honorary Society, Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing organization, Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses, and the Nurse Practitioner Society of the Dermatology Nurses Association.
Carolyn resides with her family in Columbus Ohio and is interested in Ohio Pug Rescue and traveling. Carolyn provides wound care services in Franklin, Ross and Licking counties.
Joanna Baker is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Master of Science degree in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. Joanna has additional post graduate training Clinical Tropical Medicine and Parasitology from West Virginia University.
Joanna has a special interest in providing care in underserved populations, infectious and emerging diseases, dermatology, tropical and parasitic diseases and travel medicine. She is a member of Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association, International Society of Travel Medicine and Wilderness Medical Society, and Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Organization.
Joanna resides in Cincinnati and will provide wound care services in Hamilton and Warren counties.
Corey Orzolek is a Family Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Wheeling Jesuit University and her BSN from Ohio University. She has practiced wound and ostomy care for the past 9 years. She is a member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association and the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Organization. Corey resides with her family in Bridgeport Ohio and provides wound care services in Belmont, Guernsey and Jefferson counties in Ohio and Wheeling, West Virginia.
Kristen Trout is an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Masters of Science in Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wilmington College in Delaware. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. She is a member of the Ohio Advanced Practice Nurses Association and the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Organization. Tina has a vast experience in Gastroenterology, Telemetry, ICU/PICU and Oncology.
Tina lives in Salem Ohio with her family and provides wound care services in Columbiana, Mahoning and eastern Stark Counties.
